IGNORE ALL OF THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS... This restaurants Food, Energy & Efforts are all positive. The Food is ORIGINAL JAMAICAN CUISINE! Oxtails are big tender an juicy! The Rice is so good it can be eaten alone! The mix veggies gives a escovietch vibe with a tang... Last but not least the Beef Patties are 10/10 Crispy, Meaty, Not to spicy so you can eat multiple quickly... Hands down the BEST JAMAICAN RESTAURANT I've eaten from since moving to Jersey thus far!!! - And prices on Food everywhere are rising, We can't blame the last Mom & Pop food chains we have left.... Soon all that's going to be left is Mc Donald's & Walmart. #GreatFood ##1Patties #1Oxtail

I came here today for the first time looking to try their stew chicken. Unfortunately, the owner said he was sold out of it. I then asked for jerk chicken, but they were sold out of that too. I ended up ordering the jerk salmon dinner. I wanted to order it with rice and peas, but they were sold out of that as well! I thought it was pretty ridiculous to be a Jamaican restaurant and to be sold out of stew chicken, jerk chicken, and Jamaican rice! It's a new business, and it was my first time so I'm going to give them benefit of the doubt. The owner was very nice, and he hooked up my dish with what he did have. The jerk salmon was very good! It had a delicious authentic Jamaican flavor without being overly spicy. The Mac and cheese was very good too, and there wasn't one dry piece. The cabbage and plantains I thought were just ok. The plantains needed to be more sweet. The portion was generous, and the food was good! The restaurant is nice and clean inside. You can eat inside or order to go. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying the stew and jerk chicken. I recommend Taste of Jamaica 1 in Sayreville! Just make sure you call ahead to see if they have what your looking to order that day!

This is a hidden gem in sayreville. I ordered jerk chicken, curry goat, and fish. I had white rice and rice with peas and vegetables. Even though i didn't eat in, the place is absolutely beautiful. The food tasted amazing. The curry goat was perfectly seasoned. And the jerk chicken tasted absolutely amazing. Everything complement one another perfectly. The rice was very light and delicious. It actually tasted like a home taste meal. The decoration of the plaze is really cozy yet classy. I absolutely love this place. The food worth every penny!!!!

It seems to be a brand new establishment and we noticed it after attending a toddler birthday party. We picked the worst day to come because it appeared nothing was working right for the restaurant. Machines didn't appear to work, food took a while, food wasn't delivered - sounded like a horrible day. I felt bad for the owner/staff. Despite all this, the food is good. There was quite a long wait (45 minutes from order until we got our food) but after seeing what a rough day they were having, we decided to be patient and give them a chance. After all, you never know what someone is going through. They have a good following here as many people came in to order after us. We couldn't wait for the vegetables so just got our platters as is. Oxtail - it was good but I was hoping for great. I'm used to fall-off-the-bone oxtail. I'm guessing it may have been too early when we came in to order the food and perhaps it wasn't fully done yet? Either way, flavor is ON POINT. Love the sauce with the rice and peas. The sweet plantains in every dish is phenomenal. Perfectly cooked and tastes great. Jerk Chicken - yessss! Love me some jerk chicken! This was all white meat so it was a bit drier but the flavor is delicious. I inhaled my food. Curry chicken - Really nice flavor on this as well! Not overwhelmingly spicy. The jerk chicken was spicier. But the sauce goes so well with the rice and the chicken was perfect! So so so good with rice. I could have just ate rice with curry sauce and be very happy with it. It was a LONG drive home back to NYC but the food was still warm and good! Hopefully the place will work out its kinks during the opening months. The food is good. Like someone else wrote, have patience and it'll pay off.
